KAWARTHAS-Peterborough County OPP officers made an arrest after an individual was identified as a shoplifting suspect in Havelock.
On Thursday August 6, 2026, at approximately 1:30pm, Peterborough County OPP officers received a call regarding an individual who was allegedly observed taking items from a local business and leaving without making any attempt to pay for them. The store employee attempted to speak with the accused about what had been seen, but the accusations were denied according to police.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the complainant who provided a description of the accused. Officers were able to identify the accused and attended an address in Havelock where they were located and arrested.
A 30-year-old from Havelock was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 15, 2026, in Peterborough.
