OPP And Volunteer Arborist Come Together To Clean Up After Storm In Fenelon Falls

KAWARTHA LAKES-When a storm hit Fenelon Falls on Monday night, knocking down trees and hydro lines, Derek Coulter tossed his chainsaw and ropes into the truck and headed out to see if he could help clean up.

Before long Coulter and his wife Vikki came across a huge willow tree over Concession Road near the Fenelon Falls Medical Centre. A couple of Kawartha Lakes OPP officers were passing through to get to another call and while on route, they also came across the tree.

Coulter, who owns Coulter Tree Care, cut the tree up and the officers removed the brush.  Together they were able to free up a lane on the roadway.

Several trees came down in the area and thousands were left without power after a severe thunderstorm swept through around 7:30 pm.

A dog showed up there at the time, lost in the storm and the officers were also able to return him to his owner.

“Sounds like it was an eventful evening, with some good outcomes!” said Laura Newberry, Communications Kawartha Lakes OPP.

Thanks to everyone involved!
