Special Weather Statement Issued Warning Of Isolated Thunderstorms And Heavy Downpours

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of isolated thunderstorms and heavy downpours.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Apsley – Woodview – Northern Peterborough County
  • Fenelon Falls – Balsam Lake Park – Northern Kawartha Lakes

Isolated thunderstorms with heavy downpours possible this evening.

HIghly localized amounts of 30 mm in an hour will be possible, with potential for an isolated 50 mm in one or two locales.

Creeks and streams may become fast moving as a result of heavy downpours in some areas. Motorists are advised to exercise caution under the heavy downpours due to the risk of hydroplaning.

  • Lindsay – Southern Kawartha Lakes
  • Peterborough City – Lakefield – Southern Peterborough County

Very warm and humid through Monday.

A warm and very humid airmass will lie over the regions through Monday. Afternoon humidex values in the upper thirties to near forty are expected. It will be cooler near some lakeshore areas, especially today.

A slightly cooler and less humid airmass will arrive Tuesday.
