Police Warn Dog Owners After Report Of Suspicious Meat Making Animal Sick

KAWARTHA LAKES-On Monday May 4, 2021 the Kawartha Lakes Police Service received a complaint from a dog owner, reporting his dog may have become ill after ingesting pieces of suspicious meat off the boulevard while on a walk. It is reported that multiple pieces of what appeared to be cooked beef, were located in the area of Sweetnam Drive and Cook Street.

At this time, it has not been determined if the meat is the cause of the dog’s illness, if the meat had been placed in the area intentionally or dropped there by another animal according to police.

Owners can help protect their animals by being vigilant whenever pets are outside of the residence. Should you locate anything suspicious, please contact the Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) at 1.833.926.4625.

If you have observed any suspicious activity, you believe many be connected with this investigation, contact PAWS or submit your information anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS (8477).
