KAWARTHA LAKES-A Brampton man is facing charges under Reopening Ontario Act after vehicle stop in Lindsay.
Police say on Tuesday April 20, 2021 at 7:02am, while on patrol in the area of Lindsay Street North, a Kawartha Lakes police officer, observed a vehicle with multiple individuals inside. One of the individuals was recognized by the officer, as a male bound by conditions not to be in the area according to police.
19-year-old Michael Esenwa of Brampton was arrested and is charged with failure to comply with undertaking. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on May 27, 2021.
Three tickets were issued to other individuals in the vehicle, under Section 10(1) the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA).
“We thank everyone in our community who is providing an essential service and those who are staying home, following public health guidelines – everyone plays a vital role in stopping the spread of the COVID-19 virus.” said police in a press release.
Kawartha Lakes Police have laid numerous charges under the act since the pandemic began.
