OPP Says No Concern For Public Safety After Incident Involving Two “Suspicious” Vehicles

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes OPP is encouraging parents and guardians to discuss personal safety with their kids after reports of two suspicious vehicles in Fenelon Falls.

Police say on March 24, 2021 officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were notified of an incident involving two suspicious vehicles observed in the vicinity of Fenelon Falls Secondary School.

An officer located the vehicles and the ensuing investigation indicated that no offence had occurred. At this time there is no concern for public safety according to police.

There was a Facebook post circulating about the incident. The post stated that police were looking for several vehicles that attempted to pick up girls and take them to a local motel.

The post stated in part:

“The individuals drove past her and her friends several times today. Apparently, they would approach the girls and ask them if they wanted a ride. They had a different vehicle each time.”

The OPP would encourage the public to report concerning experiences and behaviours to the police. Parents and guardians who wish to discuss personal safety with their children can find valuable resources and information at https://www.kidsintheknow.ca/app/en/about.
