KAWARTHA LAKES-A 29 year old Lindsay man is facing a number of drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop on Monday.
Officials say a Kawartha Lakes Police Service constable on patrol of Lindsay Street North, observed the driver of a vehicle allegedly speaking on a cell phone at approximately 1pm. The officer stopped the vehicle to investigate, and learned that the man operating the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license according to police. Police say further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and a “flick knife,” which is considered a prohibited weapon.
29-year-old Matthew Raymond Tucker of Lindsay has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and a number of Highway Traffic Act offences.
Police Chief Mark Mitchell says, “this arrest demonstrates the constant hard work of our officers to protect our community, despite risks posed by COVID-19. The men and women of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service will continue to keep our roads safe, target crime and remove dangerous substances from our streets.”
The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on June 18, 2020.
