Two people taken to Toronto hospital with serious injuries after crash closes Lakefield Road

KAWARTHA LAKES-Lakefield Road at 7th line remains closed after a serious crash last night.

It happened at approximatley 10:30pm.

Police say a sport utility vehicle (SUV) travelling southbound crossed the center line and struck a car travelling northbound. The driver and passenger from the car have been transported to a Toronto area hospital with serious injuries. The driver from the SUV was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Lakefield Road remains closed at the 7th Line while members trained in collision reconstruction measure and document the scene.

The Lakefield Road closure will remain in place for several hours while police investigate.
