Two people charged after driver flees from police at RIDE check near Bobcaygeon

KAWARTHA LAKES-Two people are facing charges after a vehicle fled from police at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check near Bobcaygeon on Saturday night.

Kawartha Lakes OPP were conducting a RIDE program on Country Road 8 shortly before 10pm when a driver was asked to pull over. According to police the vehicle pulled away at a high rate of speed. A short distance away driver reportedly bailed out of car and fled on foot. 

The Emergency Response Team and Uniform police tracked the footprints in the snow for approximately 3km, locating the suspect at the Tim Hortons in Bobcaygeon.

Witnesses told Kawartha 411 they saw police with guns drawn, yelling at a man to put his hands up.

27 year old Bradley Vienneau of Peterborough is facing the following charges:

  • Flight From Police contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to CCC
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to the CCC (3 counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to CCC
  • Operation While Prohibited contrary to CCC
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to CCC

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.

46 year old Trisha Brown of Peterborough is charged with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to CCC
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to the CCC (2 counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to CCC
