Antique canoe stolen from residence on Highway 121

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP is currently investigating the theft of an antique canoe.

Police say on August 29, 2019 officers attended a residence on Kawartha Lakes Road 121 in response to a break and enter. Investigation indicated that at some time between 6:00p.m. on August 28 and 6:00a.m. on August 29, 2019, unknown person(s) entered the shop on the residential property and removed an antique canoe. Entry was gained by breaking the padlock on the shop door according to police.

A 15 foot red cedar canoe, two web canoe seats, two cane seats, carrying yokes, and other canoe equipment was allegedly stolen.

In another theft being investigated by police a large sum of collectable coins was stolen.

Police say on September 8th at approximately 5:15p.m. officers attended a residence in Manvers Township in response to a break and enter. Investigation revealed that earlier in the day an unknown person(s) gained entry into the residence by damaging a basement window. Stolen from the residence was a quantity of collectible coins with an approximate value of $8 000.

Police say a Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) attended the scene to assist with this investigation.
