Calgary woman charged after vehicle ends up in the swamp

KAWARTHA LAKES-Police say a Calgary woman refused to provide a breath sample after her vehicle ended up in a swampy area on Powles Road.

On July 16, 2019, OPP officers received a call for assistance from a motorist concerned for the safety of a female party observed on Highway 35 near Powles Road. Police say on arrival, the female was with a vehicle that was partially in a marsh. Investigation resulted in the officers determining that the female had been driving the vehicle and that she had allegedly been consuming alcohol.

34 year old Leah Ironmonger was arrested and charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand, contrary to the Criminal Code, after refusing to provide a breath sample.
