KAWARTHA LAKES-A Lindsay woman is alleged to have cashed stolen cheques and is now facing charges.
The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service initiated a fraud investigation on January 9, 2019 after a man reported suspicious activity with his bank account.
Police say through the investigation, it was learned that a woman had stolen cheques belonging to the complainant, and then obtained cash after writing the cheques out to herself. On March 30, 2019 the woman was located and arrested.
Charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 and two counts of fraud under $5000 is 28-year-old Kirstan Baker of Lindsay. The Accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street west in Lindsay on May 9, 2019.
