KAWARTHA LAKES-A Peterborough woman is facing a number of charges after a minor collision on Highway 7A.
Police say on New Years Day, officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were dispatched to a crash on Highway 7A near Janetville Road.
On arrival at the scene, initial investigation indicated that the driver of one vehicle was conducting a u-turn when it sideswiped a second vehicle according to police. While conducting the investigation, the officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. As a result, Karen Augustin, 54 years of age, of Peterborough, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Operation while impaired –Â blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, contrary to section 320.14(1)(b)
- Dangerous operation, contrary to section 320.13(1)
- Failure to stop after accident, contrary to section 320.16(1)
The accused was also charged with possessing more than one licence, contrary to section 35(1)(e) of the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
