KAWARTHA LAKES-A Go Fund Me campaign has been set up for a family in Lindsay who “lost everything” in a house fire on Sunday.
The Macdonald’s lived in the home on Lester Drive. Their 93 year old grandmother was home at the time of the blaze and was rescued by Bob Elvery, who was passing by on his way to church. “I went to the main door and I knew if I opened it I would be engulfed in smoke and flames so I went around to the back door.” Elvery told Kawartha411. That’s when he saw the woman’s hand and lead her to safety. Their cat perished in the blaze according to family members. “They have lost so much and only have the clothes on their backs. Â So tragic losing your home and all your cherished belongings.” says the Go Fund Me page. Â “Starting this GofundMe page to help them get back on their feet while they start the claims process and wait for a new home to be built.”
A number of fire crews were called to the scene on Sunday at around noon. Thick black smoke could be seen for miles.
