KAWARTHA LAKES- Peterborough Police have arrested and charged a 30 year old Omemee man with impaired driving by Cannabis following a Saturday night motor vehicle collision in Peterborough.
Police say at approximately 9:45 p.m. on November 17th officers received a call from a concerned motorist reporting an erratic driver heading north on Armour Road allegedly swerving across the roadway and striking snowbanks on the side of the road. The motorist stayed on the line with dispatchers and continued to follow the driver. The driver then approached the intersection of Nassau Mills Road and Water Street where he failed to stop for the red light and struck a vehicle traveling northbound on Water Street according to police.
Officers located the accused and through the investigation, which included the use of a qualified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), the accused was determined to be impaired by Cannabis.
As a result of the investigation Derek Scott Emery, 30, of Cedarview Drive, Omemee, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following:

-   Red light – fail to stop (Highway Traffic Act)
Emery was served an automatic 90 day drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.
