Police take alleged impaired and dangerous drivers off the road

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 52 year old man is facing charges after being pulled over by Kawartha Lakes Police on Angeline Street South.

On Friday March 16th at 9pm an officer was monitoring traffic at the intersection of Kent Street and Angeline Street in Lindsay. The officer allegedly observed a van travelling south on Angeline Street at a high rate of speed, passing vehicles and then moving into the lane for northbound traffic. The vehicle was stopped by police on Angeline Street south and the driver was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

52-year-old Fernando Salinas Lugo is facing charges.

On Sunday at 12:15am a member of the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service allegedly saw a vehicle driving in the area of Angeline Street and Colborne Street in Lindsay and became suspicious of the manner in which the vehicle was being operated. The driver was stopped by police, administered an approved roadside screening device and was subsequently arrested. The driver was taken to the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service where she provided two further samples of her breath.

Charged with driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in her blood is 24-year-old Breanna Deguerre of Ops Township. The Accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days.
