Neil Young Omemee bound

KAWARTHA LAKES- It appears Neil Young will be making his way “back home” to Omemee this Friday for a secret concert called “Somewhere in Canada.”

Sources have confirmed to Kawartha 411 that road closures to accommodate a Bell Media Live Concert at Coronation Hall in Omemee have been initiated with the City of Kawartha Lakes. A section of Sturgeon Road will be closed from 12 pm on November 28th to 3 am on Saturday December 2nd. Sturgeon road is the corner that Coronation Hall in Omemee is located on. The hall holds about 150 people.

We have not been able to officially confirm the show with representatives from Bell Media but we are working on it.

On November 11th Young made a Facebook post saying “I will be going to my town” on December 1st. He is releasing a new album called  “The Visitor” that same day and that prompted speculation that Omemee could be the location for the upcoming secret live broadcast.

Young lived in Omemee for many years as a child,a family member opened a museum dedicated to the famous musician in the small town but it has since closed.

The show is scheduled to start at 8pm and will be broadcast on CTV and Facebook as well as iHeart Radio.
