KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police had to forcefully enter a Glenelg Street home after they recieved a call about a domestic assault on Wednesday night.
Police say they got the call just after 10pm At 10:10 after a woman allegedly went to a neighbours home indicating that she had been assaulted by her ex-common law spouse. The woman was suffering from a cut on her forehead and a swollen lip as a result of being hit several times by the man according to police. When officers arrived, they could not locate the victim and found blood on the front porch of the home.
No one would respond to knocks at the door so police forcefully entered the home and located the victim inside. The suspect was also located in the home hiding in the kitchen. When the man was arrested, it was discovered that he was on conditions for a prior assault to have no contact or communication with the victim.
The 44-year-old man from Lindsay was detained in custody and will appear for a Bail Hearing at the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on charges of Assault and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order.
