Ransomware hits businesses and residents in Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES- Unassuming business owners in the City of Kawartha Lakes have had their data wiped out and lost thousands of dollars after being hit by Ransomware according to local experts. Ransomware is a type of malicious software that threatens to publish the victim’s data or block access to your data unless a ransom is paid. Experts say even if you pay the ransom there’s no guarantee you will get your data back.

Shockingly many of the computers our experts examined were unprotected and vulnerable to these types of attacks.
