City of Kawartha Lakes Police officer facing charges

A 17 year veteran of the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service has been accused of failing to adequately investigate a sexual assault in 2015.

The Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) conducted an investigation into a complaint made by a member of the public.

The OIPRD is responsible for receiving, managing and overseeing all public complaints about the police in Ontario.

Investigators have directed a misconduct hearing against Constable Cathy McLeod on charges of neglect of duty and discreditable conduct. McLeod has been with the police service for 17 years and was with Toronto Police before that.

The officer is scheduled to attend on Wednesday, June 21st, 2017 at 10:00 am in the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Services’ Community Room at 6 Victoria Avenue North, Lindsay to answer to the charges.

CKL Police have had one other complaint so far this year that was found to be unwarranted.
