KAWARTHA LAKES-The Conservative Party of Canada is calling residents in the City of Kawartha Lakes today warning recent moves by Justin Trudeau and the Liberal government will cripple the economy and asking for donations.

The callers say it’s time to stop Justin Trudeau and to send a strong signal before asking for your support. They say the liberal policies will cripple the economy and point to the new carbon tax.

On the party website it states “If you live in Alberta or Ontario, you’re already feeling the Carbon Tax pinch. The price of gas shot up this year as provincial carbon taxes kicked in.” and goes on to say “But for those of you not in Alberta or Ontario, don’t feel left out. Justin Trudeau plans to introduce his own national carbon tax soon”

The Conservatives say once implemented, all Canadians can expect to pay as much as $2,600 per year in new taxes. They say Scheer will repeal the tax.

The calls come on a day when Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock MP Jamie Schmale is reportedly sitting down with new Conservative leader Andrew Scheer.

Scheer was elected by the Conservative Party of Canada as its leader on May 27.

Schmale did not support Scheer in his bid to run the party but has said he now has confidence in his leadership.
