The locks in Bobcaygoen and Fenelon Falls are ready to go for the long weekend but high waters could prevent the Trent Severn Waterway from opening.
The lock gates in Fenelon Falls were removed and refurbished over the winter. They were re-installed approximately two weeks ago. Â Bobcaygeon’s gates were done a few years ago.
The system is set to open on Friday May 19th and will be open for the entire weekend, water conditions permitting. High water may delay the opening but officials have not yet made that call.
Parks Canada is offering a free 2017 seasonal lockage permit in honour of Canada’s 150th. The permit will allow free passage through the lock systems on all of Parks Canada’s national historic canals throughout the entire 2017 navigation season, including the Trent-Severn Waterway. You will still pay for overnight moorage.
