Family pets lost after fire guts Fenelon Falls home

A fire at a home on Raby’s Shore near Fenelon Falls has gutted the building.

City of Kawartha lakes Fire Department Platoon Chief, Bill Lockwood told Kawartha 411 that crews from Coboconk, Fenelon Falls and Cameron were called in to battle the blaze just after 8:30 Monday night but the home could not be saved.

Two adults and two children were home at the time but made it out safely. Four pet birds could not be rescued and one family cat is missing.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but Lockwood says it appears it started in an electrical appliance outside the home and travelled inside.
