Astronaut Chris Hadfield hopes to inspire students in Lindsay to reach for the stars

Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield has spent the last few days in Lindsay speaking to students at local schools. He’s also speaking at at fundraiser for United Way, City of Kawartha Lakes Thursday night to raise money for the organization.

Hadfield is the first Canadian to walk in space. He’s the first Canadian to command the international space station. Hadfield, who was raised on a farm in southern Ontario was inspired as a child when he watched the Apollo 11 Moon landing on TV. He’s now retired but spends his days speaking to students and teaching others about the wonders of the world.

Here’s some of the inspiring words he had for students, his thoughts on science as a subject in school and what the United Way means to Canada.
