New Partnership Supports Omemee Train Station Revitalization

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Omemee Lions Club and Kawartha Community Foundation have established a new partnership to support the revitalization of the historic Omemee Train Station, preserving local heritage and enhancing a valued community space.
The Omemee Train Station Revitalization project will be part of the Foundation’s Public Amenities Fund, which supports improvements to shared community spaces, including parks, recreational amenities and places of historical significance. Contributions designated for the station project will support its restoration and revitalization.
With a partnership agreement in place, the Omemee Lions Club will lead the project locally, while Kawartha Community Foundation will administer charitable contributions and issue donation tax receipts.
Officials say the project aims to honour the station’s railway history while making the building and surrounding space more welcoming, accessible and useful to the community. Proposed improvements include restoration work, enhanced access, heritage displays and outdoor amenities.
Residents, businesses and community partners are invited to support the project through donations and future sponsorship opportunities. Sponsorship details are being developed, and interested supporters are encouraged to contact the Omemee Lions to discuss how they can contribute.
Tax-receipted donations can be made through
By bringing together local volunteer leadership and the Foundation’s charitable support, the partnership could help turn community generosity into lasting improvements to a landmark that connects Omemee’s past with its future.
