Doors Open 2026 Allows You To Step Into Our Local History

KAWARTHA LAKES-Doors Open gives residents and visitors a chance to explore some of the places that make Kawartha Lakes unique.

For Doors Open 2026, we’re celebrating the City’s 25th anniversary by opening the doors to places where local decisions are made, community services are delivered and people come together to help shape Kawartha Lakes.

Take a tour on September 13, 2026 from 10am to 4pm for this free event.

Doors Open 2026 features twelve sites across communities in central and southern Kawartha Lakes:

  • Academy Theatre (2 Lindsay Street South, Lindsay)
  • Kawartha Lakes City Hall (26 Francis Street, Lindsay)
  • Kawartha Lakes Museum and Archives (50 Victoria Avenue North, Lindsay)
  • Lindsay Post Building (15 William Street North, Lindsay)

“It’s that time again when we get to take a peek at what’s inside those wonderful Heritage properties we see as we travel around our city,” said Athol Hart, Chair of the Kawartha Lakes Municipal Heritage Committee, which organizes the event. “Each one has something special that the public rarely gets the opportunity to see. So, come on out and enjoy our heritage properties from the outside in … the doors are now open!”

Doors Open Kawartha Lakes is part of Doors Open Ontario which is facilitated by the Ontario Heritage Trust. From May to October, communities across the province host Doors Open events to open residents and visitors to their important heritage spaces and places.
