KAWARTHA LAKES-On Monday August 17, 2026 at approximately 8:24 pm officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were sent to Balsam Lake Provincial Park located in Bexley Township for reports from concerned campers regarding a male inside the camp ground. On Tuesday August 18, 2026 officers attended Balsam Lake Provincial Park and arrested a 36 year old male as a result of the investigation. He was charged with sexual assault and sexual interference under the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is being held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay. Police say there are no concerns for public safety at this time.
