Speeding Stop On Highway 35 Results In Impaired Driving Charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 42-year-old Cameron resident is facing impaired driving charges after being stopped by police for speeding.

On Monday August 17, 2026 at approximately 10:04 pm City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officers conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 35 in Ops Township conducted a traffic stop for speeding. The driver was subsequently arrested and charged with speeding and impaired driving related offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and Highway Traffic Act offences.

A 42-year old from Cameron were charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding 1 – 49km/h over Posted Limit
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Open in Baggage

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
