Investigation Into Drug Trafficking In Peterborough And Northumberland County Nets Over $230,000 In Drugs, Cash And A Shotgun

PETERBOROUGH-Three people have been charged following a drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

In May 2026, the CSCU, with assistance from the Peterborough Police Service Drug Unit, began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in Peterborough County and Northumberland County.

As a result of the investigation, officers identified locations in Toronto and Curve Lake believed to be connected to the distribution of illicit substances.

On July 27, 2026, police arrested an individual in Toronto. At the time of the arrest, the person was found in possession of a large quantity of Canadian currency according to police.

Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants were subsequently executed at two Toronto-area residences. Officers seized approximately:

  • 610 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • 415 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 19,450 opioid tablets
  • Approximately $52,000 in Canadian currency
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia

On July 29, 2026, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU, assisted by the Anishinabek Police Service and the Canine Unit (K9), executed CDSA search warrants at two residences in Curve Lake. During the searches, officers seized approximately:

  • 320 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Approximately $15,000 in Canadian currency

Police say the combined seizure has an estimated street value exceeding $231,000. In addition to Canadian currency, police seized a vehicle, a shotgun, cellular phones and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old man from Scarborough has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

A 47-year-old man from Curve Lake, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin) – three counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

 

A 46-year-old woman from Curve Lake, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin) – three counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

All accused were held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.
