KAWARTHA LAKES-Candy and a good cause makes for a very sweet treat!
The Canadian Mental Health Association, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) is the recipient of August’s Mix of the Month fundraiser at Burns Bulk Food in Lindsay.
Beginning August 1, community members are invited to visit Burns Bulk Food, located at 118 Kent Street West in Lindsay, to purchase a special CMHA HKPR-themed candy mix featuring green, blue and white treats, including gummy pears, sweet puffs, sugared apples, gummy frogs, blue sharks and more.
A portion of proceeds from every Mix of the Month purchase will support CMHA HKPR programs and services, helping individuals and families across the region access the mental health supports they need.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Burns Bulk Food family for their generosity and commitment to supporting mental health in our community,” said Jack Veitch, Manager of Community Engagement and Education. “Whether you’re sharing some candy with a friend, coworker or family member, you’re also helping strengthen mental health supports close to home.”
The fundraiser also serves as a tribute to the memory of Mya, a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend. CMHA HKPR is deeply appreciative of the Burns family for choosing to honour Mya’s legacy through support of local mental health programs and services.
Community members are encouraged to stop by Burns Bulk Food throughout August, pick up a bag of the special candy mix, and share it with someone they care about.
