peterborough-Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews were dispatched to a report of a serious two vehicle collision that closed Tara Road north of Ennis Road in Selwyn Township..

It happened just before 4pm on Friday June 26. Officers, EMS and Fire all arrived on scene to find one motor vehicle, a pickup truck, just off the roadway on the shoulder with significant front-end damage. The second vehicle, an SUV was further off the roadway, and it had come to rest on its side. Witnesses advised the pickup was travelling southbound when the northbound SUV attempted to make a turn, which resulted in the collision according to police.

Both the driver and the passenger of the SUV were transported to a local hospital with one of them later being airlifted to a Toronto area trauma hospital. The occupants of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries and were all treated.

Tara Road remained closed for several hours while first responders dealt with the collision scene and officers trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.

The collision is still under investigation and police ask that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam or video footage and has not yet spoken to police, contact the Peterborough County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
