Driver Charged After Allegedly Testing Four Times Over The Legal Limit On Highway 7

PETERBOROUGH-A 31-year-old Douro-Dummer Township resident is facing charges after Peterborough County OPP received a complaint from a construction worker on Highway 7.

On Wednesday June 24, 2026, just prior to midnight, an officer from the Peterborough County OPP who was patrolling Highway 7 was stopped at a construction zone and advised of a vehicle that failed to stop for the flagman. Police say the officer located the vehicle and observed that it had no rear lights on.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver was arrested for Operation while Impaired. The driver was transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing where their results were over four times the legal limit.

A Douro-Dummer Township man was arrested and charged with;

• Operation while impaired

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 4, 2026.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
