Maryboro Lodge Museum Celebrates Night At The Museum

KAWARTHA LAKES-“What I love about Night at the Museum is seeing the community come together in a place where there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy,” says Alexis Wilson. On Saturday, June 27, from 6 to 10 pm Maryboro Lodge Museum will be hosting a pleasant soiree on the patio beside Cameron Lake, with Strawberry Shortcake to benefit the Salvation Army. Dar Kimble and Scott Carleton will be providing the musical entertainment.

The museum will be home to many magical creatures on this occasion. As visitors go through the building, they can create their own costumes and take part in a fairy adventure. Many local youths eagerly anticipate this event and put a lot of effort into their outfits. The first floor is designed to be family friendly, the second floor is a frightening haunted museum experience. “There are not many haunted museums that you can visit in June,” explains Ella Austin Scollick. “I had a friend that went to Night at the Museum with me, and she was so scared that she didn’t step in the museum for two years after that… she thought it was so creepy!”
“It all comes alive,” remarks volunteer Angie Edgar. Night at the Museum is the kind of event where visitors have no idea what is coming next—volunteers spend a lot of time thinking of new ideas and much of the excitement is wondering what this year’s surprises will be. Previous events included a musical performance by the Phantom of the Opera, the premiere of a hippie van by Donna Biscchop, the Ghost of Maryboro Lodge, a crazed opera singer, Beetlejuice, Art the Clown and many other unforgettable characters. “It is a lot of fun to see what everyone has dreamed up.”
