OPP Investigating Server Security Systems Breach At Lindsay Jail

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Central East Correctional Centre is operating under a Continuity of Operations Plan after staff identified a breach related to its security systems on Monday, June 1.

“The affected servers have been taken offline while work continues to remediate the systems and address the breach. The Ontario Provincial Police have been engaged, and an investigation is underway.” said Dakota Moniz, spokesperson for Solicitor General Michael Kerzner. “The servers affected did not contain any inmate information. The Ministry continues to support the safe and secure operation of CECC while work is underway to restore the system.”

Officials say a Continuity of Operations Plan outlines the measures an institution may take to maintain day-to-day operations and ensure inmates continue to have access to essential services, including court appearances, showers, and healthcare.

“These measures can include bringing in additional staff, modifying schedules, or implementing rotating lockdowns where necessary.” added Moniz.

Moniz says the institution is not currently in lockdown.
