Toronto Police Officer Killed In The Line Of Duty

ONTARIO-A Toronto Police officer has been killed in the line of duty. This is the second police officer to die in less than a week.

Toronto Police Association President Clayton Campbell issued the following statement:

“It is with heartbreaking sadness today that we confirm the line-of-duty death of Toronto Police Service Constable Marc Pinizzotto.

A valued member of our elite Emergency Task Force, our brave brother was fatally shot early this morning during a high-risk takedown.

The TPA has been on site all morning with Chief Demkiw and other members of the TPS, supporting Marc’s devastated family and colleagues.

Details of how this tragic incident unfolded, as well as any arrangements, will be available in the coming days.

In the meantime, I want to ask everyone for their support. When most people were safely at home in bed, this officer left his family to make this city safer.

Our members put their lives on the line every day. It is a devastating tragedy that Marc did not return home to his family today.” said Campbell.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026 James Bay OPP officer Tarun Bali was killed while conducting an investigtion at Kendall Concession Road 7 and Concession Road 6 near Hearst. An 18-year-old is facing charges.
