PETERBOROUGH-The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a 23-year-old man was seriously injured in a collision after fleeing a Peterborough Police Service officer Friday morning.
The SIU says preliminary information suggests shortly after 11 a.m. on June 5, 2026, police received a call about an erratic driver of a Dodge Charger on Tupper Street in Cavan-Monaghan. An officer saw the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver with the lights and sirens on his cruiser. The driver fled and the officer followed the driver for a time according to the SIU.
A short time later, the driver of the Charger was involved in multiple collisions and entered the ditch in the area of County Rd 10, south of Highway 115. The man was taken to hospital in Toronto for treatment of multiple serious injuries. He remains in hospital.
Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case. One subject official and two witness officials have been designated at this time.
