SIU Investigating Incident In Cramahe Township

NORTHUMBERLAND-The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an arrest in Cramahe Township.

On Sunday, May 24, 2026, shortly before 7:00 p.m., officers from the Northumberland OPP responded to an incident in Cramahe Township and arrested an individual, who was subsequently transported to the Northumberland Detachment.

Police say while in custody, the individual went into medical distress and was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.

The OPP has notified the SIU, which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.
