Kawartha Lakes OPP Charge Multiple People With Impaired Driving Over the Weekend

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP continue to remove impaired drivers from local roadways through proactive patrols and calls for service.

Police say impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of serious injury and death on OPP‑patrolled roadways. Officers remain committed to identifying and removing drivers impaired by alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both.

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 5:54 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at a residence on County Road 46 in Woodville, Ontario. Through investigation, a person was charged with impaired driving‑related offences, along with weapons and court‑order related offences.

A 30‑year‑old from Lindsay, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Failure to comply with release order (other than to attend court)
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Elm Tree Road after observing a vehicle swerving and travelling at inconsistent speeds.

A 33‑year‑old from Lindsay, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor

May 2, 2026 – Peace Road, Emily Township

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 11:42 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Peace Road in Emily Township after observing a vehicle swerving and speeding.

A 27‑year‑old from Omemee, was charged with:

  • Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property

While in custody at the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment, OSWALD caused damage to the holding area, resulting in the mischief charge.

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, at approximately 5:44 p.m., officers attended a local business in Norland, Ontario, following reports of a two‑vehicle collision. Through investigation, officers determined one of the drivers had operated a motor vehicle while impaired. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

A 38‑year‑old from Minden Hills, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while prohibited

All accused individuals were issued a seven‑day vehicle impoundment, a 90‑day driver’s licence suspension, and are scheduled to appear at the Lindsay Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
