TRENT HILLS-The Auxiliary to Campbellford Memorial Hospital presented a cheque for $100,000 to the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation at their Annual General Meeting held on April 10th.
The Auxiliary is a group of People who raise funds to purchase patient equipment that supports CMH.
The Auxiliary has raised a total of $2,293,554.06 since 1953. The $100,000 was only surpassed by the auxiliary once in 2007/08. This year, the Auxiliary funded the purchase of a Burlodge Food Cart, ECG machine, 2 patient lifts, and 3 stretchers for the Emergency Department.
Jeff Hohenkerk, CEO, CMH, remarked on the great impact the auxiliary has had on CMH. He stated that the patient equipment purchased this year will increase the level of care the hospital can provide, making staff lives easier and safer.
John Russell, Executive Director of CMH Foundation, said the Auxiliary has been one of the largest donors to the hospital with over $2 Million contributed along with sweat equity. Russell recognized the importance of maintaining good relations and respect for the role of the Auxiliary and expressed gratitude to the Auxiliary for its work.
The Auxiliary has approximately 70 members, without whom it would not be able to do as much fundraising. Several members received awards for their years of service, but Helen Glenn won the prize for 35 years of dedicated service to the Auxiliary.
A new Executive was inducted at the AGM. They are: President: Liz Mathewson; Past President Jill Stewart; 1st Vice President: Joan Ferreira; 2nd Vice President: June Tutak; Treasurer: Lenore Whitney; Secretary: Lena Koiv; Past President: Jill Stewart; Members at Large: Christine Hallett, Betty Leppanen, Cindy Fergusson, Darline Pomeroy, and  Cathy Vosper; Gift Shop Convenor: Jill Stewart; Gift Shop Treasurer: Peggy Hinan; Cards/Memoriam Shirley Warr; Press/Publicity Evelyn McLeod; and  Quilting Monique Yearwood.
The Auxiliary is just starting their spring fundraising events, May 15 – Tag Day, May 23-24 Tag Day in Warkworth, May 30 Golf Tournament, and June 6 Junk in the Trunk, Plant and Bake Sale at the Campbellford Fairgrounds. Check out cmh.ca/auxiliary/events or Facebook page for more information.
