ONTARIO-The Northumberland OPP has charged a Scarborough resident following an incident at Warkworth Institution.
Police say it was reported that a visitor at the facility refused to leave and kicked a door causing injury to a Correctional Officer on January 30th. The member of staff was later transported to a local hospital for non-serious injuries.
As a result of the investigation, the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit took one person into custody on March 16.
32-year-old Maryan Mahamed from Scarborough, has been charged with Assault a peace officer with a weapon.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in April, 2026.
