14-Year-Old Charged With Assault With A Weapon And Uttering Threats

NORTHUMBERLAND-Northumberland OPP has laid multiple charges in various investigations recently.

On March 4, 2026, at around 1:00 p.m., OPP were on patrol on Elizabeth Street in the Municipality of Brighton when an officer observed a person known to be wanted on warrants. Police say the individual was taken into custody and a search led to the seizure of a small quantity of suspected cocaine and the person was also sought in connection to a theft of items from a business on Main Street in Brighton on February 23, 2026 according to police.

45-year-old Amanda Jackson from the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Theft under $5,00
  • Fail to comply with undertaking
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

On March 6, 2026, at approximately 7:50 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspicious person near Warkworth Institution in the Municipality of Brighton.

Correctional Service Canada (CSC) staff believed contraband had been delivered to the institution by a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (Drone) and that the aircraft was returning to its operator on a nearby road.

Officers patrolled the area and conducted a traffic stop on a pick-up truck in the vicinity. During the arrest, the driver allegedly attempted to drive the vehicle while being taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a drone and CSC staff also recovered a package containing cannabis at the institution according to police.

As a result, Abdou-Allah Chaouki (25) from Quebec, has been charged with:

Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of distributing

Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation or property

  • Dangerous operation
  • Resist peace officer
  • Driver fail to surrender license
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Delivers contraband to, or receives contraband from an inmate
  • Flight from peace officer

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

On March 9, 2025, shortly before 7:00 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at a address on Lakeview Heights in the Municipality of Brighton. The complainant advised that an individual was making threats and throwing items in the residence.

Officers arrived and took one person into custody. There were no serious injuries reported.

A 14-year-old female, from the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats – two counts
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Breach of recognizance

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. They shall not be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
