KAWARTHAS-A Sunderland man was pronounced deceased following a collision on Highway 7/12 in Scugog Township.
On Sunday, March 8, 2026, at approximately 5:55 a.m., officers from the Toronto Detachment of the OPP responded to a collision involving two passenger vehicles on Highway 7/12 near the 4th Line in Port Perry.
Initial stages of the investigation indicate that both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when a head-on collision occurred according to police.
A 53-year-old male from Sunderland was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 32-year-old male from Innisfil was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and a 35-year-old male from North York was airlifted to a regional trauma centre with serious injuries.
All northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 7/12 in Port Perry were closed for investigation, with assistance from OPP Technical Collision Investigators and a Reconstructionist. All lanes have since reopened.
