Trent Lakes Man Facing Multiple Charges After Axe Allegedly Thrown Through A Door

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 47-year-old Trent Lakes man faces multiple charges after Peterborough County OPP officers were called to a residence after an assault took place.

On Saturday February 28, 2026, prior to 9:30am offiers received a call from an individual who reported they had just been assaulted. The caller advised that the accused had attended their residence on County Road 49 and threw an axe through their door. The caller then stated the individual entered the residence with a firearm and made advances in a threatening manner. The caller was able to leave the location and contacted the OPP from a safe location. Police say they believe both parties lived on the same property but will let the courts confirm that.

Officers attended the address and due to the concerns over the possession of a firearm, officers secured the area and additional resources were brought in. At approximately 11:30am, the accused exited the residence, surrendering to police. The accused was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment.
