Gun Belonging To Off-Duty Peterborough Police Officer Discharged, Striking Neighbouring Home

PETERBOROUGH-The Peterborough Police Service is advising the public about an incident on December 31, 2025, involving a firearm that was discharged inside of a west-end Peterborough residence.

At approximately 7:00pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, officers were called to a residence in the Ireland Drive and Ravenwood Drive area regarding a firearm that had discharged while inside one house and with the bullet then striking and entering a second neighbouring home.  No one was injured in either home according to police.

The investigation is still ongoing and at this time charges have not been laid.

“This is understandably a very troubling incident, and the Peterborough Police Service is thankful that no one was injured. Any further details will be released when available.” Stuart Betts, Chief, Peterborough Police Service.

No word on charges.
