Oshawa Woman Charged With Impaired Driving After Single-Vehicle Collision In Port Hope

NORTHUMBERLAND-Northumberland OPP officers have charged a driver following a single-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Port Hope.

Police say on November 29, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Morris Church Road. The caller described a passenger vehicle with a lone occupant. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were also dispatched to the scene.

After speaking with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation. The individual was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital with non-serious injuries.

As a result, 36-year-old Monika Puczynski from Oshawa, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in December. A further 90-day Administrative Driver License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
