KAWARTHA LAKES-A 21-year-old Scarborough male is in custody after a high-risk traffic stop which occurred on August 22, 2025.
Just before 12:00pm the Kawartha Lakes Police received a report of a vehicle being occupied by three males who were in possession of a firearm. The vehicle was located by officers and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted on St Patrick Street, where they were safely taken into custody.
Police say the investigation into a rear passenger revealed that he was released in February 2025 for several firearms offences with a house arrest condition to remain in his residence at all times unless in the presence of his surety, who was not in the vehicle. A search incident to arrest also found him to be unlawfully in possession of percocet tablets according to police.
As a result the accused was charged with Fail to Comply with Release Order and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Hydromorphone. He was transported to the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay, pending a bail hearing.
