KAWARTHA LAKES-The annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign raised $8,600.77 to support the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes (HSKL) and its mission to ensure that every animal in the City of Kawartha Lakes has a good quality of life free from the fear of abuse, neglect, and ignorance.
Throughout the campaign which was held from April 28 to May 4, customers at the Tim Hortons location at 93 Lindsay Street South purchased hand-decorated Smile Cookies or stuffies, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting HSKL.
Emily Harris, Executive Director of HSKL, expressed her appreciation for the community’s support:
“We are incredibly grateful to have been selected once again as this store’s fundraising recipient. Every Smile Cookie sold directly supports the growing number of animals in our care by providing safe temporary shelter, essential medications, veterinary treatment, and the time and support needed for healing and socialization. These efforts not only help place animals into loving, permanent homes but also reduce the number of stray and sick animals in our communities and bring happiness to the families who open their hearts to adoption.”
Harris also extended thanks to store owners Shelby and Ken Hunter, their hardworking staff, and the many volunteers who helped decorate and sell the cookies throughout the week.
“So pleased to have another fantastic smile cookie week. With the help of volunteers, team members and the community we were able to help many more animals that are in need. HSKL is such an amazing charity, we are so honoured to help.” said Shelby Hunter.
This year’s national Smile Cookie Campaign raised a record $22.6 million across Canada, benefiting 600 local charities and organizations, including HSKL.
