KAWARTHA LAKES-A little bit of food support can make a world of difference to someone at risk of homelessness, helping them hold on to their housing for one more day. A Place Called Home affirms this sentiment and recently pursued and received a $5000 Community Capacity Grant from the United Way – CKL.
Jennifer Lopinski, Fund Development Coordinator at A Place Called Home, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the grant: “We are deeply grateful to the United Way – CKL for their generous $5000 Community Capacity Grant, which will be used to purchase grocery cards for our clients accessing our Drop-In Services. We expect to support and provide these essential resources to 40 – 50 individuals and families as they work to improve their housing stability. Your generosity provides hope and stability to those in need. We are profoundly grateful for the positive impact you’ve made in our community.
A Place Called Home provides emergency shelter to those experiencing homelessness and Drop-In Services to those at risk of homelessness. These services include access to shower, laundry, and bathroom facilities, as well as one meal a day. Most importantly, those accessing the services can work with staff to build a housing plan that leads to improved housing stability.
With rising inflation and escalating rental costs, more and more low-income individuals and families are facing significant challenges. The support from the United Way – CKL helps to ensure that A Place Called Home can provide vital food resources to those in need, helping them maintain their housing and work towards a more stable future.
