Parks Canada Announces Spring Maintenance Swing Bridge Closures

PETERBOROUGH-Parks Canada will be conducting spring maintenance at some of its swing bridges and sites along the Trent-Severn Waterway, in preparation for the 2025 navigation season.

 This includes preventative maintenance tasks like washing and greasing swing bridges and conducting visual inspections to ensure their safe operability.

 Temporary Bridge Closures (weather permitting):

 

Sunday, April 13, 2025         Maria Street Swing Bridge (Peterborough)           6:00 AM – noon

Sunday, April 20, 2025         Warsaw Road Swing Bridge (Peterborough         6:00 AM – noon

 Detour routes will be in place and clearly marked. Motorists are asked to plan their routes accordingly to avoid delays. Pedestrians can access the upper gate crossing at Lock 20 – Ashburnham, to reach the other side of Maria Street.

 “Parks Canada would like to thank the public for their understanding during the maintenance period,” said officials.
