Unofficial By-Election Results For Ward 5

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Ward 5 By-Election has concluded and the unofficial elected official is now Mark Doble. Doble received 49% of the ballots cast and 1176 votes.

Pat Dunn received 469 votes and Duncan Gallacher 459 votes.

Official results will be declared in the coming days.

The new Councillor will be sworn in on April 22, 2025 at 1pm in Council Chambers.

The by-elections comes after Eric Smeaton announced his resignation, effective November 1, 2024.

In a letter to Mayor Elmslie and the City Clerk, Smeaton indicated that he is resigning due to unforeseen health and personal reasons, noting, “I have enjoyed my work as a City Councillor, serving Ward 5 to the best of my abilities. I am grateful for the support from, and collaboration with, the Mayor and Council colleagues.”
